When the HEDDphone TWO was finally finished, I have to admit that I was a little bit disappointed. It did not have the sonic characteristics of the HEDDphone ONE. That is not to say that the HP2 was not a technical upgrade – because it is. But it is a completely new product with new strengths.

Fans of the original HEDDphone (myself included) were just hoping for improved comfort. While the HP2 achieved that, the sound signature is also very different. The faded, muted, and very dry perspective on the mid-centric spectrum does not resonate as much with the passionate audiophile crowd. The AMT driver does deal well with the signature what otherwise could have easily been nothing but dull. I actually tried to postpone the launch and see what can still be changed or improved, but I was overruled quickly. (To be fair, the pro-audio crowd loves the TWO as is!)

It’s not until first reviews came in that underlined my criticism that the team decided to do something to address the audiophile crowd. I wish the TWO GT would have been my project, but it wasn’t. In the end, I composed texts, did all the photography, illustrations, packaging, manual, etc., but I would have appreciated more say in the design and final sound.

Again, I took the initiative to create a brochure that should enhance the experience. It’s a symbolic gesture to show how much care and effort went into designing this product. I wish more manufacturers would do this.
